Periodontal therapy can take different forms, but the goal is always to restore healthy tissues and prevent further damage. If left untreated, gum disease can spread to the bone supporting your teeth, potentially leading to tooth loss in severe cases.
Periodontal Therapy Procedures:
- Scaling and Root Planing: These deep-cleaning techniques are the first line of defense against gum disease. Plaque and tartar (calculus) are removed from beneath the gumline using hand scalers and/or ultrasonic instruments.
- Gum Grafting: In cases of lost gum tissue, healthy tissue from another area of the mouth or laboratory-processed donor tissue may be used to protect tooth roots.
- Periodontal Plastic Surgery: This type of surgery reshapes the gum tissues to improve their appearance and health, providing a more pleasing aesthetic outcome.
- Periodontal Laser Treatment: Using lasers to remove diseased gum tissue offers several benefits over traditional surgery, such as reduced discomfort and minimal gum shrinkage.
- Crown Lengthening Surgery: This procedure exposes more of the tooth’s structure, which can be necessary for cosmetic purposes (to make the teeth appear longer and reduce a “gummy” smile) or to help secure a new dental crown.

This was a difficult procedure due to the location being hard to reach and the configuration of the tooth itself. Dr. Reyal worked hard to make sure it was a comfortable fit and would work for me. I think it took a certain amount of artistry as well as persistence and I thank her for that. She does an especially good job explaining the what and why of what she is doing. As always, Marley is such a gem and I value her supportive care. Last but not least, Dr. Reyal and her team have been responsive to suggestions about how to improve communication with their patients and I was glad to see signs clarifying payment options.

I have grown very comfortable with Dr Kelly Clarke's office and staff. Going to the dentist has never been my favorite thing but I have been a patient here for a few years now and I would not want to change! They are so friendly and helpful.

Dr Clark examined my tooth I had broke said we can take care of this and how he would do the work. Now I get a crown and am thankful I was referred to this group.

DR Clark and staff are great!! I had teeth pulled and I had to have injections to numb my mouth, DR Clark was so good with the injection, l really did not fill it. I have had a lot of experience with Dentists and shots. I would highly recommend DR Clark and staff!!! Keep up the great work 👍
